AKG WMS420 Wireless Instrument System (Band A: 530 to 559 MHz)
TheĀ WMS420 Wireless Instrument SystemĀ fromĀ AKGĀ offers guitar, bass, and keyboard players a simple-to-use wireless systemĀ for live sound applications including performances, presentations, and installations. This system consists of a PT420 bodypack transmitter with a 1/4″ instrument cable and a SR420 tabletop UHFĀ receiver.
The system uses dual-antenna diversity to improve signal reliability and reduce dropouts and offers a maximum range of 100′. For improved reception with multichannel setups, the included 1/4-wave antennas can be removed and upgraded with professional RF accessories such as antenna splitters and remote-mounted directional antennas.
The beltpack transmitter includes a 1/4″ guitar cable, but will also work with a wide variety of AKG lavalier and headset microphones with a TA3F connector. The beltpack features a noiseless On/Off/Mute switch, a gain control knob, an LCD channel display, and a battery status LED indicator.
The transmitter is powered by a single AA battery (included) which provides up to six hours of operating timeāand even up to 8 hours depending on battery type and use circumstances. The transmitter also includes charging contacts for use with rechargeable batteries and AKG’s CU400 rechargeable base station (both available separately).
The front panel of the receiver features an On/Off button, a rotary output volume control, and a button for selecting one of the available eight carrier frequencies within the system’s range. An LCD display shows the selected receiving channel, an RF LED to indicate the presence of a signal, and a CLIP LED to indicate when the audio level is too high.
The back panel of the receiver features an adjustable squelch control that will automatically mute the audio output if the strength of the radio transmission becomes too weak. A DC IN port with strain relief accommodates the included AC adapter. The balanced XLR output lets you connect to a mixer, while the unbalanced 1/4″ output is ideal for connecting to a guitar amplifier.

AKG LC81 MD Reference Lightweight Cardioid Lavalier Microphone (Black)
The LC81 MD reference lightweight cardioid lavalier microphone makes a name for itself by not stealing the show. With a diameter of only 4.8 mm, and a length of 10 mm, it’s one of the smallest cardioid lavaliers available. And at only 2 g, the LC81 MD won’t weigh down lengthy performances – in fact, the stars will hardly know that it’s there.
But that’s just its size. When it comes to sound, its sensitive cardioid polar pattern picks up a wide range of frequencies – from bass to soprano – and provides flexibility in getting the best sound from the source. Placed close to the performer, it accurately picks up low-end frequencies; place it farther away for performances in a higher range.
Key Features
- One of the smallest cardioid lavalier mics available – inconspicuous on every user
- Comfortable design – ready for extended use
- Microdot connector – works with all major wireless systems
