Designed with your needs in mind
With the PowerEdge C2100, you don’t have to choose memory over disk capacity. You get both so you can get results faster. The Dell Data Center Solutions team designed the PowerEdge C2100 to maximize space, energy and cost efficiency in data centers where memory and storage density are critical: Apache® Hadoop, Map/ Reduce, Web analytics, database and cloud computing.

PowerEdge C2100 features include the performance of two six- or quad-core Intel® Xeon® 5500/5600 series processors with 18 DDR3 memory slots to increase gigabytes without increasing the number of nodes.

It supports up to 12 x 3.5” or 24 x 2.5” hot-plug disks (SAS/SATA) and has two internal 2.5” disk bays. Expansion options include two standard x 8 PCI Express slots and two dedicated x 4 PCI Express slots for SAS and 10Gb Ethernet (GbE).

Increase memory and save
The power-efficient Intel® Xeon® 5500/5600 series more than doubles memory over previous Intel generations, providing 18 DDR3 DIMM sockets for up to 192GB of memory.

With Samsung’s latest ow-voltage high-density DDR3 memory, you can also save more than 70% in energy over previous generation memory solutions.

The right mix of disks
The PoweEdge C2100’s mix of disk configurations and backplane options enables you to select the combination of components that best matches your needs. Choose from 2.5” or 3.5” high-capacity SATA or high-performance SAS hot-plug drives in the front-loaded carriers, in addition to two internal 2.5” SATA HDDs or single-level cell (SLC) solid-state drives (SSDs) for up to 38TB of capacity.

For applications where the highest performance is required, the C2100 has a backplane configuration that allows you to control all 12 drives via 12 SAS/SATA ports, rather than requiring an expander chip where performance may be limited.

If greater RAID flexibility is the goal, an expander backplane is available to control 12 drives from one SAS/ SATA controller. In addition, the two internal 2.5” HDD/SSD drives are available with the expander backplane to open up further possibilities in local storage, while support for 6Gb SAS provides future-ready scalability.

PowerEdge C server line
The PowerEdge C2100 is part of Dell’s new hyper scale-inspired PowerEdge C server line designed to bring the most compute power in the least amount of space with the least energy draw to lower operational costs. These servers have the right combination of what you need and nothing more.

These are purpose-built servers, designed for HPC, Web 2.0, data analytics, gaming and cloud building. They are best for rack deployments, large homogenous cloud/ cluster application environments where the software stack provides primary platform availability and resiliency. The PowerEdge C server line does not come with features you don’t need like comprehensive systems management, or broad enterprise storage.
