Ken-a-VisionĀ designed this Siedentopf binocular headĀ TU-19642C-230 Comprehensive Scope 2 Digital Compound MicroscopeĀ from the ground up to optimize the digital learning experience by providing plug-and-play compatibility with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems, as well as supporting interactive white boards and simultaneous multi-camera classroom setups. Utilizing an angled binocular head preserves stereoscopic vision allowing for a more comfortable viewing experience with a true depth of field that monocular heads are unable to provide. The Siedentopf interpupillary adjustment allows you to make personalized changes without refocusing or realigning your specimens.
A 5.0MP digital camera is built into the head and is co-witnessed with eyepieces so what is seen in the eyepieces is exactly what the camera sees. The camera captures video and still-images in up to 2595 x 1944 resolution and outputs at 1080p. In addition to the optical magnifications provided by the eyepiece and objectives, there is an option for up to 16x digital zoom. An included 6′ USB cord supplies power to the camera and sends data to the computer.
The optical system features two 10x eyepieces – one with an integrated pointer – set in a the 30°-angled binocular head, and a four-objective 360° rotating turret with click-stop positions at each lens. Four objectives from 10x to 100x produce a broad magnification range of 40x to 1000x making this microscope a versatile observation tool. Its achromatic glass objectives are designed to correct for chromatic and spherical aberrations in the center 60% of the field of view, so images have a true color representation with virtually no distortion. If users need to change or replace objectives, Ken-a-Vision designed them to DIN standards to enable eyepieces form many manufacturers to be installed without making modifications. The optical surfaces were also treated with special coatings to prevent damage and deterioration from humidity and other climatic conditions, often found in hot and humid regions of the world.
A mechanical stage with spring-loaded specimen clips moves in both the X and Y axes. Each axis has its own adjustment knob, and a stage locking screw holds the stage in place when needed. Specimens are lit from below from an LED powered by either the included power adapter or permanently installed rechargeable batteries. To control the amount of light illuminating the specimen the LED has a rheostat, plus an Abbe condenser and iris. This multi-function adjustability enables precision illumination for the perfect image.
