Sonifex AVN-DIO10-12G Overview

Provide your studio with a convenient method of connecting legacy 12, 6, and 3G, as well as HD and SD and SDI equipment to your Dante audio network with the AVN-DIO10-12G from Sonifex. Upgrading the popular AVN-DIO10, this handy tool can simultaneously embed and de-embed up to 64 channels of audio.

The AVN-DIO10-12G sports a primary and redundant secondary Dante port, along with two BNC connectors for the audio/video input and output. This unit can convert sample rates of audio between Dante and SDI, distribute or synchronize to external clocks, and overwrite or insert into existing SDI audio groups. Control is easy via an intuitive web interface. And thanks to the integrated Audinate Dante chipsets, this unit supports AES67, Dante Domain Manager, and mapping via Dante Controller. Power is provided through PoE over the EtherCON connections, allowing for a compact device that avoids the need for power supplies.

Embedding and De-Embedding
The AVN-DIO10-12G takes an SDI feed, de-embeds up to 64 audio channels, and places them on channels 1 to 64 on the Dante network, mapped using Dante Controller. It simultaneously takes the 64 input channels mapped to the device on Dante Controller and re-embeds them onto the SDI output. 

The unit contains an integrated SDI generator to allow embedding onto the SDI output without the need of an SDI input. This is fully configurable through the web UI. Other controls provided through the web UI allow embedding of Dante channels onto the SDI output per channel pair. There are two modes of operation: Insert Mode Enabled allows embedding to overwrite existing SDI audio selectively per channel pair, while Insert Mode Disabled clears any incoming audio channels on the SDI output and then allows selective embedding onto the SDI output per channel pair.

Test Tones
Test Tone mode allows 1, 2, 3, and 4 kHz signals to be output on channels 1 to 4 respectively, for any group where embedding is enabled. This is so downstream SDI audio outputs can be tested without needing Dante sources.
