Sony Xperia PRO-I Overview

Combining truly professional camera hardware with a “go-anywhere” vlog-friendly form factor, the Sony Xperia PRO-I 512GB 5G Smartphone is the answer to elevating your mobile content creation to the next level. The “I” in “PRO-I” stands for “Imaging,” which the Xperia PRO-I delivers in abundance. The star of the PRO-I experience is a 24mm wide-angle camera with a large 1″ Exmor RS CMOS sensor, which incorporates a real iris for dual f/2.0 and f/4.0 apertures and a sharp ZEISS Tessar T* lens made from high-index aspherical optical glass.

Capture crisp, detailed stills with naturally rendered bokeh and exposure control, and record cinematic videos that can be saved natively to memory in 4K at up to 120 fps. Videos of fast-moving subjects are possible thanks to Video Eye AF and object tracking, also at 4K/120p. These are just some features of a triple-camera array that also includes a 3D iTOF depth sensor, a 16mm ultrawide, and a 50mm standard lens. All three lenses offer 12MP resolution and large pixels for exceptional low-light performance.

To further ensure that what you shoot is of extremely high quality, Sony incorporates a BIONZ X processor for dedicated image and video processing. This adds improved noise reduction in any shooting mode and real-time 12-bit raw processing at up to 24 fps. These are just some of the PRO-I’s imaging capabilities, which are mirrored by robust hi-end smartphone functionality. Mobile features include a large 6.5″ 4K HDR OLED screen for immersive gaming and video streaming, 5G network connectivity for fast broadcasting of content on location, and support for both Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos audio formats for even more realism.

GSM/4G LTE + 5G Wireless Connectivity
This phone is designed to work on select GSM & 5G (Sub-6) networks. 5G is a cellular network data protocol capable of extremely fast data speeds that rival, or surpass, that of wired broadband internet providers. 5G speeds can vary considerably based on location, but on average, should have no problem streaming 4K video. As 5G upgrades over time, mobile AR and VR applications could become possible. The phone is backward compatible with 4G LTE, 3G, and 2G data for locations that do not support 5G.
North American Variant / US Compatible 5G

Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS)
Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) allows you to lower your mobile costs when traveling while staying connected. Once your SIM cards are installed, you will be able to receive phone calls and text messages from either without needing to manually choose which one is active. When you want to make a call or send an SMS message, you can select the correct SIM card. When one SIM card is being used for a phone call, the other will not be active until you hang up. Operator charges may apply.

This phone runs Google’s Android 11 operating system, which gives you access to the millions of available apps in the Google Play Store, in addition to a host of built-in capabilities. These capabilities consist of an array of new and updated features that are meant to enhance your mobile experience. Below is a small list of highlights that you can enjoy with the release of Android 11.

  • Conversations: Pull down on your screen to manage ongoing conversations from multiple message apps. If there’s someone you speak to often, you can prioritize them to show on your lock screen.

External Monitor
When attached to your camera and used as an external monitor, the Xperia PRO-I offers a host of additional capabilities. You can livestream what your camera sees online, use Wave Form to check the exposure and RGB balance, and use False Color to assist with iris setting selections by ensuring the details for exposure are more noticeable. You also get a trigger function for recording and stopping via a USB Type-C cable, and on-screen statuses that include whether you’re recording or not, shutter speed, f-stop, ISO, and EV.
