It enables device consolidation across network and security functions, improves operational flexibility and service agility, simplifies network operations, and results in reduced deployment times and fewer truck rolls for delivery of add-on services.

The Catalyst 8300 Series Edge uCPE is the next generation of the Cisco 5400 Enterprise Network Compute System (ENCS) platforms.

With up to 20 Intel Xeon cores, the Catalyst 8300 Series enables you to run combinations of routers, firewalls, other network functions, and applications, all on a single device as guest Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) (in VM or Container form-factor including Kubernetes). With hardware-accelerated processing for crypto traffic, it can support throughputs to meet the demands of your branches and remote offices. Its compact 1-Rack-Unit (1RU) form factor with less than 18-inch depth makes it suitable for deployment in constrained spaces.
