Active Lane Guidance gives you an animated model with arrows to indicate the proper lane needed for your route. PhotoReal Junction View realistically displays junctions, including the surrounding landscape and Bird’s Eye junction view gives an aerial picture for clarity at complex junctions. Garmin nüvi 2589LM also has Garmin Real Directions that guide like a friend, using recognisable landmarks, buildings and traffic lights, for example “Turn left after the petrol station”.

Find restaurants, hotels, shops and more sourced from Foursquare. If you use the Smartphone Link app (see below) with your nüvi 2589LM, you can also check-in on Foursquare and access information such as ratings, price range and hours of service. Another useful feature to help find exactly where you’re going is Direct Access. It finds the most relevant entrance to complex buildings such as airports or shopping centres. So if you need to go to particular Terminal or shop, you’ll be directed accordingly.

Smartphone Link is a free mobile app that connects your nüvi 2589LM with your iPhone or Android smartphone. When paired, your nüvi can use your phone’s existing data plan to share information – such as where you parked, POIs and your destination. With the Smartphone Link app, you can conveniently send locations and addresses from your phone straight to your nüvi. Smartphone Link also gives you access to Garmin Live Services, useful real-time information such as weather. Smartphone Link works with iPhone 4S or later and some Android devices.
