It is powered by an energy-efficient, industrial-grade 22nm 64-bit Intel® quad-core 1.91 GHz SoC processor with 2GB / 8GB DDR3L RAM (expandable to 8GB), and features dual Gigabit LAN ports to maximize system bandwidth. The IS-453S’s hardware-accelerated encryption with AES-NI provides unmatched encryption performance of up to 224 MB/s, boosting system performance & security while ensuring the safety of sensitive business data stored in the IS-453S.

Cross-platform file sharing, centralized data storage

The IS-453S supports SMB/CIFS, NFS, and AFP protocols for file sharing across Windows®, Mac® and Linux®/UNIX® networks. Data, logs and ISO images of CDs and DVDs can be centrally stored in the NAS and protected by an integrated antivirus solution. Windows AD® and LDAP services enable system administrators to configure user permissions using existing Windows AD® servers, LDAP servers or NAS build-in LDAP services. The IS-453S supports SAMBA v4 and can act as a domain controller for Windows®.

Well-rounded backup solutions to secure data

QNAP NetBak Replicator supports real-time and scheduled data backup on Windows® including Outlook email archiving. Time Machine® is also supported to provide Mac® OS X users with an effortless solution to back up data to the IS-453S. A wide range of third-party backup software such as Acronis® True Image and Symantec® Backup Exec are also supported.
