StarTech PEXSAT34RH Overview

Expand your storage options with the 4-Port PCIe 2.0 x2 to SATA III RAID Controller Card with HyperDuo SSD Tiering from StarTech. Featuring a PCIe 2.0 x2 host interface, this adapter card sports four SATA III ports. Supporting Port Multiplier (PM) technology, this card can connect to a total of seven drives. Furthermore, auto-tiering via HyperDuo allows you to combine the storage space of an HDD with the fast performance of up to three SSDs. Hot swapping is also supported, along with hardware-based RAID 0, 1, 10, and JBOD modes.

Coming with a preinstalled standard profile bracket, this card also includes a low-profile bracket for easy deployment. This adapter is compatible with Windows XP and later, Windows Server 2003 and later, and macOS 10.6 and later. It can also be used with long-term support (LTS) versions of Linux 3.5.x to 4.11.x. Please note, this adapter card is tested to work with drives up to 4TB.

HyperDup Auto-Tiering
Utilizing HyperDuo technology, the SATA card supports SSD auto-tiering. Auto-tiering combines the performance advantages of SSD storage with the cost-effectiveness and large capacity of standard hard drives. Up to three SSDs and an HDD can be combined into a single volume. HyperDuo discreetly works in the background to identify and move frequently accessed files to faster SSD drives for improved data throughput. Please note, the HyperDuo automatic storage tiering feature is compatible with computers that use a BIOS.
Port Multiplier Support
This PCIe SATA controller card supports Port Multiplier (PM) protocols, enabling multiple SATA drives to be connected to one port over a single cable. A total of seven drives are supported, with four drives connected via PM on one port, and a single drive connected to each of the remaining three ports. Plus, the SATA controller card offers an effective hardware RAID solution, with native support for RAID 0, 1, 10, and JBOD modes.
