Performance

You can install one or two intel Xeon Scalable processors with a TDP of up to 205W. However, the TYAN FA77B7119 B7119F77V10E4HR-2T-N server is not compatible with the OmniPath fabric processors with an integrated PCIe connector. Assisting with processing for ridiculously parallel workloads are up to ten Nvidia GPUs supported by ten x16 PCIe Gen3.0 slots on the motherboard. Each processor supports six memory channels and 12 memory module slots, total.

Storage

In total the system will support up to 14 SFF drives, including up to four NVMe U.2 drives and ten SATA drives. With the Intel C621 chipset, SATA RAID is provided by Intel’s Rapid Storage Technology enterprise (RSTe) with Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC). NVMe U.2 drives require two OCuLink (SFF-8612) connectors providing four NVMe ports.

Memory

Registered, load-reduced, and 3DS registered and load reduced DDR4 memory modules are supported on this system. The 3DS RDIMM and LRDIMM memory modules will provide the highest capacity at up to 3TB with dual processors. Standard registered DIMMs will provide up to 768GB of memory and Standard LR DIMMs will provide up to 1.5TB with dual processors.

Up to ten Nvidia GPUs are supported on this system with each GPU placed an a full-height, full-length, double-width x16 PCIe 3.0 slot. Two PEX PEX8796 switches on the system board support a total of 11 PCIe 3.0 slots with ten reserved for GPGPUs and another x16 3.0 slot reserved for a single-width, high-performance I/O card. The system also supports a number of OCP LAN mezzanine cards in a proprietary mounting location just under the 2+1 redundant power supplies.

Management

An AST2500 Base Management Controller (BMC) with Redfish support. Redfish provides simple and secure management for converged, Hybrid IT, and the Software Defined Data Centers (SDDC).

Summary

Intel’s Xeon Scalable processors provide the system with more memory, storage, and support for more PCIe lanes. With up to ten high-performance GPUs form Nvidia, the Tyan Thunder HX FA77B7119 B7119F77V10E4HR-2T-N Server delivers some serious performance for parallel processing applications for many different fields.
