The SMC8612XL3 is as flexible as it is powerful, with 12 Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) 1000BASE-X ports and four fixed 1000BASE-T ports for copper uplink. Designed to handle bandwidth-intensive multimedia deployment such as VOIP, video conferencing, and streaming media with ease, the switch is ideal for routing between distant networks or VLANsāup to 100 km. The SMC8612XL3 leverages the best of Layer 2, 3 and 4 Gigabit switching capability, increasing router performance and overall network speed and efficiency by identifying and prioritizing traffic flow with OSPF and DVMRP under IP/RIP protocols. The SMC8612XL3 switch calculates the shortest transmission path for all communications, and ensures that mission-critical data receives priority across subnets and VLANs. At the Layer 2 switching level, the SMC8612XL3 is robustly equipped with advanced features such as 802.1p, CoS with IP precedence, DiffServ, 802.1Q, private VLANs, with future software upgrades to 802.1s and SNTP for ease of network administration
KEY FEATURES
Flexible IP Routing :Supports both Unicast and Multicast Routing for maximum efļ¬-ciency on the campus LAN network.
Small Form factor:Standard 19ā rack mountable solution with shallow depth for ļ¬exible installation options.
12 SFP ports including 4 combo ports:Offers a wide range of support for different ļ¬ber types supportedĀ by SFPs with capacity for trunked copper connections for higherĀ capacity connections to the backbone.
Supports up to 4K VLANs*:For applications on campus networks large numbers of VLANs areĀ often required. Ā The SMC8612XL3 supports up to 4K VLANs for aĀ variety of installation options.
